Signs Your System Needs Attention
- Cold spots — parts of the floor never warm up while others feel fine
- No heat at all — the system runs but the floor never gets warm
- Gurgling or uneven heat — often trapped air that needs bleeding and balancing
- Unresponsive controls — thermostats or zone valves that don't do anything
- Never worked properly — a system that's underperformed since installation, often down to design or balancing
How We Diagnose a Fault
We start with what's actually happening — when it started, what changed, which rooms are affected. Then we inspect and test the manifold, controls, and where accessible the pipework or cabling itself. Most faults turn out to be in the manifold or controls and can be fixed without touching the floor.
Once the fault is fixed, we rebalance the system so heat is even across the whole floor, confirm it's performing before we leave, and explain what caused it.
Repair & Servicing FAQs
Do I need to lift the floor to fix underfloor heating?
Not always. Many faults are in the manifold, controls, or wiring and can be fixed without touching the floor. Whether the floor itself needs opening up depends on the diagnosis.
Can you service a system you didn't install?
Yes. We regularly diagnose and repair underfloor heating systems fitted by other installers.
Why is my underfloor heating uneven or patchy?
Uneven heat is most often down to an unbalanced manifold, air trapped in the loops, or a loop that's partially blocked. A site visit lets us pin down which it is and fix it.
